01 Research and Insights
Challenges with reopening dine-in services
Why do we celebrate special occasions?
Research Insights from restaurant owners
Food Packaging must act as a brand extension [of the restaurant].
[Food packaging] must be durable to carry food while traveling.
The menu changes a lot depending on what standard takeout boxes can hold..
Research Insights from restaurant goers
We are willing to spend money on food for special occasions.
Every week we have a mountain of used takeout boxes
02 Design Development
The action of unboxing helps grow anticipation. A study from 2013 found that attractive packaging stimulates the reward-seeking areas of the brain
We wanted to design packaging that could come the closest to the customer's experience of dining out.
We wanted to leverage the feeling of surprise that comes with unboxing to turn the regular take-out experience into an exciting and special occasion.
03 Concept Proposal
We create packaging for “specific occasions meal kits”, designed for takeout experience.
Restaurants can customize the packaging and food included in each kit according to their brand identity, food menus, pricing etc.
Customers can order these different meal kits for whatever special occasions they want to celebrate.
A modular box system adapts better to existing restaurant menus.
Customization allows restaurants to provide the closest dine-in experience
Sturdy, reusable boxes with personalization help customers make important occasions special again.
